Dealing with Bill Collectors

When a bill collector contacts you about a debt, that collector is often committing commercial fraud because they do not necessarily represent the actual creditor. The actual creditor has typically written off the debt. However, bill collectors place themselves on your credit report because they "bought" the debt from the actual creditor, gambling that they can compel payment or garnish wages.

The following documents are actual letters sent to bill collectors that successfully halted collection activities. These were mailed in response to finding collection agencies on the strawman's credit report; they removed themselves when they could not validate the debt.

NOTICE: These letters only work on corporate bill collectors. They do not work on landlords, property companies, child support, utilities, judgments, or traffic tickets unless the debt has been sold to a collection agency.
